One visit at the Complex of Oinousses in Messinia is a unique experience. Complex of Oinousses is formed from three small beautiful islands: Sapientza, Shiza and Agia Marina. These islands are well known for their extraordinary natural beauty. They host a big variety of animals and wild birds.
Sapientza is the prettiest island of the complex. You can access it only if you have a boat, cause there is no ship routes going there. The north part of the island, that is exactly opposite to Methoni, has a lovely sandy beach called Ammos(which means sand). The island has been included to the program NATURA 2000. Sapientza has a safe little port, Porto Loggo, and it is perfect for excursions!
Shiza is the biggest island of Oinousses Complex. It is worth visiting for its marvelous cave that has great archaeological, geological and touristic interest.
The small island of Agia Marina, has lots of plants and took its name from the small church that is located there and celebrates on 17th of July every year.
